The Gift of Sight
By deciding to donate, you can provide one of the most important gifts of all: The Gift of Sight. You have the opportunity to donate corneas and other needed tissues for transplant and/or research. Your donation can help two people who suffer from corneal blindness, or help thousands through numerous research programs. These programs help in the development of cures for ocular blindness and disease, new technology, and medical devices in ophthalmology.
For nearly 50 years, the San Diego Eye Bank® has served local, national, and international physicians by providing high quality transplant and research tissues. With our state-of-the-art technology, combined with years of experience and technical knowledge, we are proud to provide CustomCut® tissue processing for physicians and eye banks worldwide.
International Cornea Project®
The San Diego Eye Bank® is dedicated to restoring sight around the world. In 1994 the SDEB assumed the International Cornea Project® from the Lions Eye Bank of the San Joaquin Valley. The International Cornea Project® is a humanitarian program whose mission is to provide corneas for transplantation to ophthalmologists and eye banks around the world. Since its inception, the International Cornea Project® has provided over 37,000 corneas worldwide.
The state-of-the-art San Diego Eye Bank® Refractive Laser Center is a community resource for both physicians and their patients. Since it opened in 1996, over 26,500 patients have benefited from laser vision correction surgery at the facility.
At the San Diego Eye Bank®, we are dedicated to providing continuing medical education programs that feature internationally known speakers and the latest issues and technologies surrounding ophthalmology.
